Right, so...

Seeing as I shall be dashing off to China in the rather near future, I am making a list of things that I shall need to take with me. Please do add to it if you like, I'm sure I shall forget things.

1. Birth control pills.... I'm on them anyway and I've heard that the dosage is lower in China (could be untrue as I haven't checked into it), I'm planning a trip to the dreaded gyno soon anyways, so I'll see what I can get from them and what they think about the whole dealio.

2. Contact solution and contacts. I have no experience in dealing with Chinese eye doctors and I would rather like to keep it that way. I'm going to see if I can get a two year supply of contacts and pray my eyes don't change too much. I'm not too worried about the solution, mum can always mail it over if I need more.

3. Shoes. I had a hell of a time finding shoes over there. I'm thinking a couple pairs of boots, some sneakers. I love my shoes and I dread leaving them but I also know only have so much room in my suitcases. Damnit.

4. Clothes. The people there are uber skinny. I am not uber skinny. Therefore I feel I should bring as much in the way of clothing as I can. I know this isn't true and that I can always have clothes made for me... but! but! I love my clothes! Bah.

5. Books. I doubt that I will have room for them. I shall be taking my old Chinese textbooks, and perhaps a few extras for pleasure reading.

6. Tampons!!! A necessity.

7. Deodorant. If I remember correctly, Chinese deodorant isn't that great.

8. Sunscreen. Luckily I have some from Hawaii and it smells like orange creamsicles. F'real.

9. Passports ( I have two, yeah (!) dual citizenship) and visa. I'll probably print out this list so I'm just going to go ahead and put that on there.

10. Headache meds.

11. Skype gear, my headset and camera, so that I can communicate with people outside of the Zhongguo.

Since I shall be getting paid pretty well, and my housing will be taken care of, I think that after awhile I shall be able to have a big shipment of my things sent over. Including my cat. I'm going to miss the little guy for those first few month.

Anyways, do add to the list, I shall be as soon as I think of more stuff.

Meh. Private entries are silly.

I'm tired of writing private entries all the time. So this one is public.

Laura posted pictures of Maya and I am in shock that she is walking! I am missing so much by not being in Texas at the moment, and it makes me rather sad. I miss everyone!

This weekend was rather eventful:

1. Nathan and I went to the Chinese New Year party at Smith on Friday. We had the chance to eat relatively authentic Chinese food, including a bean-paste cake. Very chewy. Nathan did a presentation with his class about jiaozi. A young lady sang a few song in Chinese which were lovely. The best part of the party was when the dragon came out! Two girls had found a dragon costume and did a short choreographed dance for everyone. It was amazing!

2. After the Chinese party we returned home for a bit to get ready for even better festivities. Around 10pm we drove to Hampshire to hang out with Rasif, Dash, and a few Mt. Holyokers. We played a drinking game which was a bit boring so I opted out of it and enjoyed some mulled wine while I watched them. Nathan and I headed over to Jacqueline's mod to say hello and give her her birthday present (some earrings I made). I got to finally meet Simone in person (she's lovely) and a few of Jacq's other friends. We didn't end up staying too long, because Jacq had people to attend to and Nathan wanted to hang out with Rasif some more. When we got back to the mod we had been in before, everyone had disappeared, so Nathan and I headed up to Anas' place. However, Anas was also gone. We did a bit of text messaging and finally located everyone in Mod 80. When we headed over there it was a madhouse! People everywhere! Nathan and I squeezed out way into the party and enjoyed dancing and talking to people there. When the drinks ran out, Nathan, Anas, and I headed back to Anas' place to grab more drinks and talk about Palestine. Everyone came back around 2am or so and we all chilled out for an hour chatting before Nathan and I headed home.

3. Last night was the new episode of Cop/Detectives. I was worried Nathan and I weren't going to make it because he was so hungover from the night before but he pulled himself together. Haha. It was an amazing(!) episode. Those guys (and girl) are so talented. I can't believe that the final episode is coming up. There was some weirdness when Nathan's ex-girlfriend came in and sat right in front of me. Eh. Haha. I still think we would probably get along quite well.

4. Today was an incredibly lazy day. Nathan and I stayed in bed watching movies all morning and afternoon. He left for work and I headed out to Michaels and Walmart to get some more beading stuff. I made a gorgeous pair of earrings with some tiger striped beads. I'll put a picture on here, as well as a picture of the ones I made for Jacqueline for her birthday.

That's about it. This week is working and schooling and next weekend is Boston. I'm very excited about Boston and meeting Winnie. I'm sad Jess Lee won't be there though.

Anyone know where I can find some beads for a reasonable price?

Anyone want to buy them?

These are the ones I made for Jacq. You can't really see it, but they have red and black seed bead dangles underneath the shells.
